I have the Google Cloud Professional Machine Learning Engineer certification now! 🏆

There are 60 questions in the exam, unlike other Google Cloud certification exams which have around 50! This seems to be standard for the machine learning engineer certification. This had previously surprised some people…

My experiences re-certifying on Google Cloud.

Towards the end of 2020, it was time for me to renew three of my Google Cloud certifications — Associate Cloud Engineer, Professional Cloud Architect, and Professional Data Engineer. I managed to pass each of them. My experiences were slightly different a second time around and thought I would put down my experiences.

How much of the topics have changed since the first time you wrote it?

There are a few changes as Google Cloud has also evolved. However, the core still remains the same. It’s unlikely that we will ever see a huge…

Could it be made easier, cost wise, for people to get cloud certified?

This post is me thinking out loud about making it a lower barrier to entry for people taking certifications — my experience is mostly on Google Cloud certifications, so I’ll focus only on that. A common request I get on my LinkedIn and Twitter messages is people asking me if I have coupons to give out for the Google Cloud certification exams. (I don’t.) The second group is companies seeking my help to get their employees complete their certification.

The cost of the professional exams is USD…

In the last month itself, I have spoken to a handful of people in the tech industry who were considering shifting to conducting technical trainings full time or part time. I thought it valuable enough to put down my experiences, thoughts, and learnings publicly for the benefit of anybody else considering it. Like them or you, I too have done a bunch of talks or trainings at companies that I had worked at previously. It would appear at this juncture that the job of a technical trainer is fairly straightforward - a linear progression. Not so. There are many gotchas…

A course and test to take on your own time that could be a start to understanding Google Cloud.

This accreditation is no more available!

Google seems to have removed this towards the end of December 2020. Existing accreditation links seem to be live.

p.s. This is a refactored post which was originally part of my DevOps certification exam notes. These points apply to all exams and therefore I thought it would be valuable on its own.

The Online Exam

The DevOps Engineer certification was the first Google Cloud exam that I was…

Preparation

Taking this exam showed me that it becomes easier the more time you spend learning. I was originally supposed to take this exam around Feb/March 2020 and had started preparing then. But then the pandemic hit and I couldn’t go to the test center. When there…

To cover more certifications quicker and to make this sustainable.

tldr;

  1. I have to raise funds to sustain these videos or make it paid. Please connect me to the CxO/brand-head in your org who makes the decision to sponsor/advertise.
  2. I’m taking a 2-pass approach to upcoming solutioning videos — quicker first-pass solutions with a little detail. Greater detail in second-pass.

I just wrapped up the first 20 scenario based solutioning videos for the Associate Cloud Engineer on the AwesomeGCP channel. That has been a very successful experiment. The feedback and responses have been positive, supportive, and, most importantly, encouraging to do…

This post details out the approach I’ve taken in creating The Certified Q&A series. We will take the first question from the Associate Cloud Engineer as the sample.

The video is here:

The question and urging you to attempt the question yourself first.
